Today, I would like to start with a specific piece of news that prompted broader reflections.
The Global Control Plan
The news concerns a US patent from 2021, ‘Methods and systems for prioritising treatments, vaccinations, testing and/or activities while protecting the privacy of individuals’.
NdT], which is related to Israeli patents no. 277083 and no. 276665, filed on 1 September and 11 August 2020 respectively, and Israeli patent application no. 276648, filed on 11 August 2020.
What is it about?
The patent abstract reads:
System and methods for anonymously selecting subjects for treatment against an infectious disease caused by a pathogen. The system comprises a plurality of electronic devices comprising instructions to generate an ID and, when in proximity of another such electronic device, one or both electronic devices transmit/receive the ID to/from the other electronic device. Then, a score is generated based on a plurality of such received IDs. Additionally, based on information received from a server, relevant treatment instructions are displayed to the subjects based on the received information and the score. The server comprises instructions for sending to the plurality of electronic devices the information to be displayed with the relevant treatment instructions, additionally the server and/or the electronic devices comprise instructions to generate a prediction of likelihood of a subject transmitting the pathogen, based on the score of the subject.
In short, the aim of this patent is to connect all citizens — vaccinated or not — to central servers, linking their biological signals, geolocation, personal and health history to the network via satellites, towers and antennas, and assigning a score relating the citizen to a specific group or level of social danger.
The system would work using a smartphone, tablet or other device to transmit signals to towers and satellites, achieving virtually absolute global control by tracking the location, movement, bodily functions, mood and health data of each citizen.
In short, it would be a society of total control, presented as a measure ‘for our own good’, but which would actually resemble a dystopian film such as The Matrix.
Dystopias and Aliens
It is no coincidence that Hollywood has been preparing us for years for catastrophic societies and eras through its films, gradually exposing us to dystopian content.
Hostile aliens (Alien), planetary catastrophes (Deep Impact), extraterrestrial invasions (War of the Worlds), social catastrophes (The Road), pandemics (Contagion) and nuclear conflicts (The Day After) are popular themes that draw large audiences to theatres.
But why does cinema, especially American cinema, devote so much effort to terrifying people?
Personally, I believe it does so for three main reasons.
Firstly, certain occult circles — what Rudolf Steiner called the ‘dark brotherhoods’ — are well aware that much of what is dealt with in such films is entirely plausible, if not yet true. For their purposes, it is necessary to communicate this, even if it is distorted.
Secondly, fuelling anxiety and fear of the future and the unknown has a paralysing effect on people’s consciences. Frightened and distressed people are easily controlled and manipulated, as the so-called pandemic clearly demonstrates.
Thirdly, in the age of global materialism, the nascent yearning for the spiritual and the superhuman is paradoxically channelled into a yearning for the subhuman. However, this cannot be traced back to matter alone.
But what is true of the dystopian themes with which American cinema inundates us?
Certainly, many of them are plausible, if not true, and some are becoming reality in the present day. However, they should generally be analysed from an anthropological and spiritual point of view to understand the meaning of their manifestation and the underlying objectives.

Today, more than ever, the essence of humanity is revealed only in relation to the universe — a concept that is required by our time.
According to Rudolf Steiner, the human intellect has become spectral because of the Moon’s detachment, which has influenced evolution and given humans the ability to acquire freedom and personality.
However, this evolution has led to a regression that culminated in the 19th century.
Images of ancient clairvoyance were present in the human intellect until the 4th century AD. From the 15th century onwards, however, the intellect has become increasingly obscure and elusive.
Despite being a spiritual part of humanity, it no longer has any real existence; it is merely an image.
When the man of today thinks merely with his intellect and faculty of reason, his thoughts are not rooted in reality at all. More and more they move about in a shadowy existence which reached its climax during the nineteenth century. And today man is altogether devoid of the sense for reality. He lives within a spiritual element, but is at the same time a materialist. His thoughts—which are spiritual but yet merely shadow-thoughts—are directed entirely to material existence. (Rudolf Steiner, Dornach, 13 May 1921, GA 204).
The Return of the Moon
However, if the human intellect has indeed become clouded due to the separation of the Moon, as has been suggested, spiritual science tells us that there will come a time when the Moon will once again approach the Earth and merge with it.
For this reason, Rudolf Steiner emphasises that humans must begin to consider such extraterrestrial events. They must not dream abstractly of something divine, but rather become aware of the fact that the Moon, which once detached itself from the Earth, will return to it.
You know that the moon will one day reunite with the earth. By the astronomers and geologists, who live in a world of abstractions, this reunion of the moon with the earth is placed thousands and thousands of years ahead. But this is mere illusion. In reality it is by no means so very far distant. (Rudolf Steiner, ibidem).
If humanity did not welcome what comes from the spiritual worlds into itself, it would gradually dissolve more and more into the shadow world of its intellect. However, this dark intellect would not be able to understand human beings, only minerals, adds Steiner.
And we must learn to connect what is happening today—I mean the fact that the intellect is becoming more and more shadowy—with what will one day be a great event in earthly evolution—the re-entry of the moon into the substance of the earth. If the intellect continues to become even more spectral than it is already, if men never resolve to receive into their being what can now flow to them from spiritual worlds, then they will inevitably be absorbed into the shadowy grey-ness of their intellectual life. (ibidem).
Only by accepting the living wisdom that spiritual science can offer in relation to the obscure concepts of reason and intellectual representations can we bring these images to life.
This quickening to life of the shadow-pictures of the intellect is not only a human but a cosmic event. You will remember the passage in the book Occult Science dealing with the time when the human souls ascended to the planets and afterwards descended once more to earth-existence. I spoke of how the Mars-men, the Jupiter-men and the others descended again to earth. Now an event of great significance came to pass at the end of the seventies of last century. It is an event that can be described only in the light of facts which are revealed to us in the spiritual world. Whereas in the days of old Atlantis human beings came down to the earth from Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, and so on—that is to say, beings of soul were drawn into the realm of earth-existence—since the end of the seventies of last century, other Beings—not of the human order—have been descending to the earth for the purposes of their further development. (Rudolf Steiner, ibidem).
Aliens
The Vulcan beings, for example, who were the last to descend to Earth in the past, are now returning to earthly existence.
Thus, novels and films about beings from other worlds — unfortunately focusing only on the technological and material aspects, imagining them descending from spaceships — allude to real events. In fact, since the last third of the 19th century, we have been dealing with an invasion of spiritual beings from space.

There are, therefore, many supernatural beings among us, and the interesting thing to note is that we can have a coherent science of the spirit precisely because they bring messages to this earthly plane.
However, Steiner adds that the human race behaves unfairly towards these entities from the cosmos who are gradually descending to Earth, ignoring and not caring about them.
I repeat, then, that since the last third of the nineteenth century Spiritual Beings from the cosmos have been coming into our own sphere of existence. Their home is the sphere lying between the moon and Mercury, but they are already pressing forward into the realm of earth-existence and seeking to gain a foothold there. And they will be able to find it if human beings are imbued with the thought of their existence. This can also be expressed as I expressed it just now, by saying that our shadowy intellect must be quickened to life by the pictures of Spiritual Science. We are speaking of concrete fact when we say: Spiritual Beings are seeking to come down into earth-existence and ought to be willingly received. (Rudolf Steiner, ibidem).
These superhumans, who are volcanic, Venusian, mercurial and solar, are joining earthly existence.
The Spiders
However, if humans continue to misconceive these beings because their spectral intellect considers only gross matter in the mineral, plant, animal and human kingdoms, then these unreal thoughts will suddenly become real when the Moon reunites with the Earth.
This swarm will seize upon the earth, will spread over the earth like a network of ghastly, spider-like creatures, of an order lower than that of plant-existence, but possessed of overpowering wisdom. These spidery creatures will be all interlocked with one another, and in their outward movements they will imitate the thoughts that men have spun out of the shadowy intellect that has not allowed itself to be quickened by the new form of Imaginative Knowledge by Spiritual Science. All the thoughts that lack substance and reality will then be endowed with being. The earth will be surrounded—as it is now with air and as it sometimes is with swarms of locusts—with a brood of terrible spider-like creatures, half-mineral, half-plant, interweaving with masterly intelligence, it is true, but with intensely evil intent. And in so far as man has not allowed his shadowy intellectual concepts to be quickened to life, his existence will be united not with the Beings who have been trying to descend since the last third of the nineteenth century, but with this ghastly brood of half-mineral, half-plantlike creatures. He will have to live together with these spider-like creatures and to continue his cosmic existence within the order of evolution into which this brood will then enter (Rudolf Steiner, ibidem).
Unfortunately, those who want to prevent humanity from embracing spiritual science are well aware of the connection between human existence on Earth and these spiders.
The question is whether, in the present time, humanity wants to grow gradually in what the positive spirits who want to unite with human beings bring from the universe, or whether it wants to remain trapped in the web of its own merely spectral thoughts.
It is not enough today to speak in abstract terms of the need for Spiritual Science. The only thing to do is actually to show how thoughts become realities. Dreadfully abstract theories are hurled at men today, such, for example, as “Thoughts become things,” or similar phrases. Abstract statements of this kind altogether fail to convey the full and concrete reality. And the concrete reality is that the intellectual thoughts evolved inwardly by men today will in time to come creep over the earth like a spider’s web wherein human beings will be enmeshed, if they will not reach out to a world lying beyond and above their shadowy thoughts and concepts. (Rudolf Steiner, ibidem).
The Sixteen Ways of Human Ruin

It is tragic that the power of civilisation is in the hands of those who consider the most true and deeply connected aspects of humanity’s development to be foolish.
We must realise this tragedy, because only then will we perhaps decide to do everything possible to enable the intellect, now spectral, to welcome the spiritual world that comes from the supernatural.
That is what a true Spiritual Science tells us today. The human will is threatened with being deprived of spiritual impulses and with becoming involved in the spidery web that will creep over the earth. There are men in existence who imagine that they will gain their ends by promoting their own spiritual development and leaving the rest of their fellow-beings in a state of ignorance. But the vast majority live in complete unawareness of the terrible destiny that awaits them if they lend themselves to what an ancient form of spiritual knowledge called the “sixteen paths to corruption.” For just as there are many ways in which the shadowy intellect may be directed to the impulses and knowledge coming from the spiritual world, so naturally there are many ways in which varieties of the shadowy intellect will be able to unite with the spider-beings who will spin their web over the earth in times to come. Intellect will then be objectivised in the very limbs and tentacles of these spidery creatures, who in all their wonderful inter-weavings and caduceus-like convolutions will present an amazing network of intricate forms. It is only by developing an inner understanding for what is truly artistic that man will be able to understand the realm that is higher than mineral existence—that realm of which we see an expression in the actual shaping and form of the surfaces of things in the world (Rudolf Steiner, ibidem).
Any science that does not rise to the level of art is deceptive, plunging humanity into cosmic misfortune.
True spiritual science, in fact, points towards an artistic approach. What is considered science today is a product of Ahriman; it leads humanity to earthly ruin and prevents them from entering the sphere offered to them by extraterrestrial entities since the last third of the 19th century.
Some may think it better not to talk about such matters, in case they frighten or paralyse people.
However, Steiner states,
What purpose would be served by keeping these things secret today, as many people desire? To keep them secret would be to throw sand into the eyes of men. Much of what is spread over the world today under the name of spiritual teaching is nothing but a process of throwing sand into men’s eyes so that no single event in history can be understood for what it really is. How many people realise today that events of fundamental and incisive importance are taking place? I have already spoken of these things. But how few are prepared really to enter into them! People prefer to shut their eyes to what is happening and to think that, after all, the events are not really of such great significance. Nevertheless, the signs of the times are unmistakable and must be understood (Rudolf Steiner, ibid.).
The Situation Today and Our Task
Today, just over a century after Rudolf Steiner spoke these words at the aforementioned conference, the prophecies of the founder of Anthroposophy are clearly valid.
The World Wide Web has enveloped the entire globe like a giant spider’s web, through which all the ‘spectral thoughts’ that people pour into it in digital form flow. The internet and the IoT (Internet of Things, or ‘smart devices’) connect over 25 billion computer devices worldwide — far more than the number of human beings.
Equipped with microprocessors, computer devices effectively acquire a life of their own — the ‘intense, excessive intellect’ that Steiner spoke of.
Not to mention the progress being made in connecting the human brain to silicon communication and computing devices and interfacing the computer with the brain.
If, as is widely predicted, the intelligence of computer systems becomes much more pervasive in all areas of society, it is reasonable to believe that humans will find themselves living in a world similar to that depicted in The Matrix, which is managed by a network of machines.
What consequences can we already see today?

In the past, for example, many people formed emotional relationships with pets such as dogs, cats and horses, creating elemental beings (salamanders), just as elementals are created by our activities, passions and desires.
However, the current generation, who are growing up with smartphones, are so attached to these devices that they have become an integral part of their soul development. It’s not just addiction; development is closely intertwined.
This indicates the increasingly close bond humans are developing with machines, particularly computers and mobile phones.
This is precisely what Rudolf Steiner predicted regarding future bonds between humans and machines, and the mechanism through which human beings will ‘bind’ themselves to machines spiritually as well as physically.
For much of humanity, this is a ‘chaining’ that will not allow the conscious soul and spiritual self to develop as envisaged in the regular plan of human development.
This refers to the ‘sixteen ways of human ruin’ mentioned above — a term that describes how human beings can derail their own evolution.
However, even though we are at a critical point in our evolutionary journey, we must not be afraid. Firstly, because fear paralyses us, robbing us of the strength we need to accomplish our task in the present moment. Secondly, because we are not alone. Alongside us are not only supermen from other planets — however bizarre that may seem — but also the Spirits of Light, directed by the entity we usually call Archangel Michael.
We are asked to commit our full energy and focus to connecting with the active spiritual forces fighting to guide our evolution towards a higher level of consciousness in every corner of the Earth.
The contribution of each one of us is not only necessary, but also indispensable.
