Non mi accorsi del momento in cui varcai
\nPer la prima volta la soglia di questa vita.
\nQuale fu la potenza che mi schiuse in questo vasto mistero
\nCome sboccia un fiore in una foresta a mezzanotte?
\nQuando al mattino guardai la luce,
\nsubito sentii che non ero uno straniero in questo mondo,
\nche l\u2019inscrutabile senza nome e forma
\nmi aveva preso tra le sue braccia sotto l\u2019aspetto di mia madre.
\nCos\u00ec, nella morte, lo stesso sconosciuto m\u2019apparir\u00e0 come sempre a me noto.
\nE poich\u00e9 amo questa vita so che amer\u00f2 anche la morte.

I was not aware of the moment <\/em><\/span>
\nwhen I first crossed the threshold of this life. <\/em><\/span>
\nWhat was the power<\/em><\/span>
\nthat made me open out into this vast mystery<\/em><\/span>
\nlike a bud in the forest at midnight? <\/em><\/span>
\nWhen in the morning I looked upon the light<\/em><\/span>
\n I felt in a moment that I was no stranger in this world, <\/em><\/span>
\nthat the inscrutable without name and form <\/em><\/span>
\nhad taken me in its arms in the form of my own mother. <\/em><\/span>
\nEven so, in death the same unknown <\/em><\/span>
\nwill appear as ever known to me. <\/em><\/span>
\nAnd because I love this life, <\/em><\/span>
\nI know I shall love death as well. <\/em><\/span>
\nThe child cries out when from the right breast <\/em><\/span>
\nthe mother takes it away <\/em><\/span>
\nto find in the very next moment its consolation in the left one.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
