La verità vi renderà liberi, diceva qualcuno venti secoli or sono. Da allora l’uomo ha sicuramente percorso molta strada, eppure sembra che la libertà sia ancora una meta piuttosto lontana.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

E questo non solo in quei Paesi e sotto quei regimi dichiaratamente liberticidi, ma anche presso popoli che hanno fatto della verità e della libertà il proprio vessillo.
Mi riferisco a due notizie provenienti da Paesi profondamente diversi ma non per questo meno emblematiche nella loro insensibilità nei riguardi della verità.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

La prima proviene dagli Stati Uniti, dove un noto settimanale conservatore, Human Events, ha compilato una inquietante classifica dei dieci libri più dannosi della storia umana.
Le dieci opere più pericolose per l’umanità che avrebbero dovuto, in linea con la malaugurata propensione, da alcuni evidentemente ancora rimpianta, del Sant’Uffizio, essere date alle fiamme.
Il fatto è che tra tali pericolosi sovvertitori dell’ordine costituito vengono annoverati, oltre, naturalmente, ad Adolf Hitler e Mao Zedong, filosofi come Auguste Comte, Friedrich Nietzsche e Theodore Adorno, sessuologi come Alfred Kinsley, economisti come Keynes, scienziati come Charles Darwin, politici come Antonio Gramsci e molti altri…nemici dell’umanità!<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

L’altra notizia proviene dalla sponda opposta del Pacifico, dalla Cina, dove continuano a sbarcare i principali motori di ricerca del web. Una opportunità straordinaria per il popoloso Paese asiatico che diventerà in breve il luogo dove si navigherà di più al mondo. Tuttavia c’è da notare che questi motori di ricerca, per poter conquistare ricche commesse in Cina, hanno dovuto garantire al Governo che alcune ricerche – come, ad esempio Tibet Libero o Falun Gong – verranno interdette ai navigatori di quel Paese.
Quello che è stato pomposamente chiamato il Great firewall of China, e che ha costretto Yahoo! a censurare per anni la propria versione in cinese, ora impone anche a Google e ad altri motori di seguire la stessa strada.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Così mentre nel Nuovo Mondo, con la sua apoteosi della libertà e della democrazia, c’è ancora chi mette in questione la liceità da parte di alcuni autori di esprimere il proprio pensiero, adducendo la pretesa pericolosità sociale delle idee, nella Terra di Mezzo, di recente convertitasi al mercato ma mai alla libertà, viene sì consentito l’accesso al più libero dei sistemi di conoscenza, ma se ne nega al tempo stesso l’essenza, vale a dire l’accessibilità senza limitazioni.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Viene, allora, il sospetto che la verità troppo sbandierata ed incensata altro non sia che un travestimento della doxa, del proprio limitato punto di vista, definita tale ad esclusivo vantaggio di chi la proclama.
Ma se verità non è, bensì solo particolare e limitato punto di vista, è evidente che non possa avere come conseguenza la libertà. Allora – ribaltando il rapporto verità-libertà – ci viene da concludere che se nel nostro mondo non c’è ancora vera libertà – ed i due casi di cronaca recente sopra citati sembrano confermarlo – forse è perché quello che veramente ci manca è un autentico rapporto con la verità, quella vera.
Non la verità che ci fa volta per volta comodo, non la verità preconfezionata e pre-pensata dei politici, degli opinionisti mediatici e dei sedicenti esperti, ma quella umile e schiva di chi ha il coraggio di pensare con la propria testa, di chi sa mettersi pericolosamente in dubbio e ne sa affrontare anche le conseguenze.
Per questo quando incontriamo degli spiriti liberi il nostro animo si riempie di gioia e di emozione, perché oscuramente il nostro anelito verso la verità ci fa intuire che il loro essere liberi nasce dall’aver sfiorato quella verità che noi non siamo stati in grado di cercare e di volere realmente.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

FEAR OF FREEDOM<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The truth will set you free; so said someone about twenty centuries ago. Since then humankind has definitely come a long way, and yet it seems that freedom is still rather a long way off. And this is so not only in those countries and under those regimes which are openly against freedom, but also among peoples that have made of truth and liberty their banner.<\/em>
I refer to two pieces of news coming from profoundly different countries but which are no less emblematic for their insensitivity regarding the truth. The first comes from the United States, where a noted conservative weekly, Human Events, has compiled a worrying list of the ten most damaging books in human history, the ten most dangerous books for humanity that should, in line with the unfortunate propensity of the Holy Office, apparently for some still sorely missed, be fed to the flames. The fact is that among such dangerous subversives for the constituted order, obviously including Adolf Hitler and Mao Zedong, we also find philosophers such as Auguste Comte, Friedrich Nietzsche and Theodore Adorno, sexologists like Alfred Kinsey, economists such as Keynes, scientists of the order of Charles Darwin, politicians like Antonio Gramsci and many others… enemies of humanity!<\/em>
The other piece of news comes from the other side of the Pacific, from China, where the main web search engines continue to introduce themselves. An extraordinary opportunity for the populous Asiatic country that will soon become that with the greatest volume of navigation in the world. However, it must be noted that these search engines, in order to gain rich business in China, have had to guarantee to the government that certain searches – such as Free Tibet or Falun Gong – will be barred to that country’s navigators.<\/em>
What has pompously been dubbed The Great Firewall of China, and which has constrained Yahoo! For a number of years to censor its Chinese version, now makes Google and other search engines follow the same path. So, while in the New World, with its apotheosis of liberty and democracy, there are still those who call into question the correctitude on the part of some writers in expressing their thoughts, adumbrating the presumed social danger posed by their ideas, in the Middle Earth, recently converted to the market but not to liberty, access is allowed to the most free system of knowledge, but at the same time denying the essence, unlimited access. The suspicion arises, therefore, that truth too obvious and untrammeled is none other than a travesty of the doxa, of the personal point of view, which is truth so defined for the exclusive advantage of whoever proclaims it. But if it is not the truth, but only a particular and limited point of view, it is evident that it cannot lead to freedom. So – inverting the truth-freedom rapport – we must conclude that if in our world there is not true freedom – and the two recent items of news seem to confirm it – maybe it is because what is really missing is an authentic relationship to the truth, the real truth. Not the truth which is from time to time convenient, not the prepackaged preconceived truth of politicians, of media opinion-makers and so-called experts, but the humble and demure truth of whoever has the courage to think with the head, who knows how to have dangerous doubts and face up to the consequences. It is for this reason that when we meet free spirits our soul is filled with joy and good feelings, because in an obscure way our yearning after the truth gives us the intuition that their freedom comes from having touched that truth, that truth we have not been able to seek and do not really want.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
